Considering how many knives some of the members on these forums have, it got me wondering a bit. How many of you have ever lost a knife, losing hope, and eventually finding it much, much later? Seems like it would be a common occurrence among us as a whole, and also seems like it might make for some interesting stories.

Lips, Don't unpurse.

David, you might want to rephrase that last line.

I'm not very eloquent when it comes to expressing ideas. Gotta work on it. Perhaps I'll just scrap that last bit.
Oh, and I think a package might be shipping tomorrow.

Just last week, my wife asked, "what is wrong?" I replied, "I think I lost Stockman today." She said, "Stockman?" Yes, I named that one. It is a Case with cv blade. It is the knife that gave me the heroin rush, which has led to a full blown addiction. As it was missing, I had to come to terms with not having it. I thought that I should not let it get it me down, but it did. I found it in an antique store, it was 1976 4 dot with delrin handles. It really was not a sentimental knife, other than it started something, collecting.... Just look at my avatar, it shows my disease. I have added 3 knives since I took that picture. I have no desire to stop either. My wife then said she found it under the bed and placed it in my night stand drawer. It was only one day, but I was actually disturbed that I thought I would never handle it again. To celebrate, I sliced up an apple and I am actually going to let the blade patina, which is growth for me, I am a polisher.

I lost the Kershaw Hawk that I'd been EDC'ing for a while when I moved into my current house. After about a week I realized it was missing and started looking for it.

The absolute worst thing about moving is the unpacking and trying to find things in their new place. My search went on for about a week and a half and I gave up, stuck another knife in my pocket and moved on and forgot about the Hawk.

About a year later in a fit of spring cleaning I was standing up on a ladder cleaning to top of the kitchen cabinets and looked over and there on top of the fridge was the knife. How, or why in the hell it ended up there, I'll never know.

I was happy to have found it since it's a very nice little knife and long discontinued.

To answer the question, I don't remember finding any knives that I had lost. The best I've ever done is to find a knife that somebody else lost.

Knives I have lost over the past ~40 years:
a non-descript carbon steel knife I adopted when I was ~8 and lost when I was a teenager, I think it disappeared when my folks moved.
a tinker
one Camillus-Buck 303 (Lost it on a business trip. Liked it so much that I bought another at the first opportunity.)
One Scandinavian Barrel knife. (a strange folding knife not made anymore. Rats.) I was helping someone move, used it and set it down. Never found it.
One Spyderco Delica. Bought a replacement .
Lost a couple of bayonets through the years.
One Gerber LST. Can't remember if I lost it or gave it to someone who needed it more than me. I had stopped carrying it because I had other blades that I liked better.
One Gerber multi-tool. Had two. Gave one away. Other went missing.

package: Cool. hope you liked yours.

I'm loving this stockman. Handles cardboard better than any knife I've used so far, and actually keeps that edge. Also, it's nice to see that patina keep changing with every other foodstuff I cut.

I lost a fraken-shallot I made with a s110v serrated blade and a black coated shallot handle. Lost it at my dorm and it was thought to be stolen at a party we had or one of them, then one day while moving out my girlfriend found it at the bottom of a towel drawer. How it got there and why we didnt look there is beyond me. But the newer story is, while moving out of the dorms I set my skirmish down somewhere and now dont know where it is. Some roommates that were around really cant be trusted to tell me that they picked it up so Im once again at a loss. I keep telling myself that its in my trunk with the rest of my stuff so I think tomorrow Ill tear through everything lol. Wish me luck guys.

about a week ago i found my gerber Gerber Applegate-Fairbairn Combat Knife. i thought i'd lost it for good but i found it at the bottom of a stack of unopened mail

I lost my Gerber Paul knife about 12 deer seasons ago. I looked everywhere. The next deer season, I tried to put one the boots I only use for deer hunting, and you guessed it, there was a knife in oneof the boots. That's when I finally remembered putting the knife in my boot so I wouldn't loose it.

I've only lost 1 knife, and it was a vic bantam, I found it like 4months later under the couch, it was still perfect with a bit of dust on it.
