Here is a very nice read posted on the Finding Manhood blog called "My Papa, a Knife, and Forgiveness." I have a feeling you sentimental, folksy old farts will enjoy it as much as I did.

If you like it, also check out "In Defense of the Pocket Knife," an earlier post on the same blog. Good stuff.

Good read, Mark!

Oh yah, thanks for that comment, Mark :D ..... just remember that sentimental, folksy young farts may someday become sentimental, folksy old farts! ;)

Carl, whaddya think about these 30 to 40 something year old pups poking fun at us oldsters?

What a wonderful series of articles!

I'm glad that somewhere, there is still a place where the gift of a pocket knife is a right of passage to manhood. Although too often modern youth will value a cell phone over a pocket knife, I hope there are enough genetic throwbacks to keep an old tradition alive.

As far as being poked fun at for being oldsters, I'm proud to admit that I've been practicing my whole life for the role that I was eventually going to have to fill, so I'm going to be the best old fart and grandfather that I can be. It's the only way to keep it going, so's not to vanish in a soulless world.

Carl.
