Just got this idea from another thread. Maybe theyre about all the same in cost but is there any website or websites that you have found (and is legit) that has way cheaper prices for benchstones then anywhere else? Particularly shapton glass and chosera(naniwa professional) also diamond plates would probably be very helpful for some people that are looking

Best prices I have found have almost always been on Amazon. Sharpeningsupplies.com ended up being cheaper for shapton glass because they give a discount when you buy three or more. Other then that all the prices for those I've seen have been around the same

Chefknivestogo
Sharpening supplies

Those are my go-to sites.

Big companies like Shapton, Naniwa and DMT have set pricing so the price should only slightly vary between retailers.

Yea that's kindve what I was thinking especially since they're harder to find. I want to get a chosera 1k or a shapton glass 4 or 6k to go with the rest of the sg I have

If you can only pick one Chosera I would go with the 3000 or if you need a coarse stone the 400. But if you have all Shapton now then I might recommend adding some Shapton Pro stones... the SP1k is a badass stone.

I got shapton glass now... I was thinking of adding some shapton pro to the mix since they're way cheaper on Amazon.. the Japanese version that is

Are the grits close in the shapton series.. like switching from glass to pro are the grits close to being equal

I can't answer that as I only use the Glass, but from what I've seen, some grits behave very similar between the 2 & some do not. But I can say that I have been absolutely satisfied with the Glass stones for everything I do. I'm a knife maker and use CPM3V & CPM20CV pretty much exclusively. I have also done professional sharpening service for law enforcement officials. I've sharpened many, many different kinds steels including many super steels besides my 2 favorite already mentioned. He has brought me M4 knives in the past and yesterday he brought an Elmax(still easy) blade along with a D2 & 1095. (On a side note: I find it rather humorous when someone here talks about HOW DIFFICULT steels like D2, or S30v are to sharpen. WHAT?!?) Anyway, as for pricing, I just spend some time searching when I make any purchase. And I also always search for online coupons. I've been able to save HUNDREDS of dollars more than once, just by putting in a little search time on Google! When you're making a large purchase, and already had planned to spend the money, then find it for $100 cheaper AND a 10% off coupon code?? Now that is a serious WIN! Puts a smile of accomplishment on my face just thinking about it!

Yea I always search like crazy for deals... ever thought about the COupons though....I found the shapton pro for half price on Amazon although it's the Japanese version I've heard they're the same.. shapton glass are awesome just to expensive to add to my set right now and I'm turning into a stone junkie I keep trying different shit and love them all normally...

Though you can get the Japanese Pro stones from amazon they are being sold against sales agreements. They are Japanese market only.

Damn I didn't know that.. well it is backed by Amazon so if anything happens Amazon will take care of it so that's one good thing
