So whats the best place to find used slippies? I mainly want it for daily work so damaged/broken/worn/skinny main blade is okay. Hopefully find find one with a secondary sheepsfoot in reasonable condition and do the best I can to touch up any other blades. Something like a stockman with a heavely used clip blade, but good spey/sheeps might fit the bill.

My thoughts are pawnshops, flea markets, garage sales, any others? Basically I want a good working knife without paying full price. Especially since its the secondary blade(usually less used?) that I like.

Don't forget e-bay.. A lot of times you can get knives that are not in perfect condition for a reasonable price..

I have had good luck at antique shops,in fact I just picked up a Schrade 8OT new in box for less than half of ebay prices.

Also at flea markets, but in both places you will have to sort through alot of junk to find a gem,in my experiance.

you can buy a perfectly good used u.s. knife for very little money. why settle for a broken, worn or beat up. knife?

JackNate send me an email through this site and give me a little info about yourself...age, work, background etc and might be I can hook you up with something you can use. (No charge to you, of course.)

I get almost all my knives via a very popular online auction site. Rhymes with e-pay ;-)

There are places called "antique malls" that are often more of an indoor flea market. In these economic times you might find something good there. You can also try Salvation Army or Goodwill thrift stores, but collectors go through those places pretty often.

Bought my last slipjoint at a gunshow, Uncle Henry USA 833UH in mint condition cost me $10. I have purchased a few knives at pawnshops, hard to find one that does not turn over everything on the internet anymore, and antique stores. My experience with flea markets are either Chinese made modern no brand or broken and rusty vintage USA made knives.

I've found some great deals at local flea/farmers markets. Check out your local knife clubs. Some knife dealers have junker slippies, and when I say junker, I mean they are not selling like the brand new stuff, and not quite collectible. At the shows, these knives are always priced to move.

PM me as I have two or three new 3 blade Remington's that I get in sets that I buy for use as "blanks" for my stone scales. I have stopped using the three blade ones in one set I use as it is hard to cut the stone on that style.... I will send them to you for the cost of the postage to you...

Thanks, good advice. Really kind and generous offers from RedRum and Blues, but won't be necessary(partially wife related).

Over the years, I have found some great old USA pocketknives in those "every knife in this box is $?.??" that you see on the end of tables at knifeshows sometimes.

I notice lots of Sears Craftsman knives in them, that are Schrade and Camillus made.

You're welcome in any case.
