Well I think I'd like to try switching from my DMT X-fine to a white ceramic for my daily edge maintinance. I'm looking for a fine ceramic rod that will work just as well on various serrated edges as well as PE.

I've seen the lansky dogbone, and like the design, but its just too small; I'm looking for something more in the 6 inch range. Does anybody have any ideas? How well do the spyderco ceramic files work on different edge types and blade shapes? Is there anything more...economic...out there?

You may want to look into the Spyderco ceramic ProFile set.
You can buy them together (medium and fine ceramic in a leather case) or the rods individually.

They are about 7" long and have both flats and radii for sharpening serrations and recurves.

Otherwise, you can just use Sharpmaker rods manually as I did for many years before getting the ProFiles a couple years back.

The Spyderco Double Stuff (Medium and Fine) is also worthwhile but since it's 5"x1" it is not really optimal for serrated knives.
