Fine Grit Paper

I would like to try some of the fine grit sandpaper to get a really nasty fine edge on my knives, especially my EDC BM710.

I've seen some of the sites that sell 800, 1200, 2000 and 2500 paper, but I don't want to have to get 50 sheets of each to try this out.

Do you know of anyplace that might have singles of each that I could try? Home Depot? etc?

Right now I use the large DMT sharpeners, coarse and fine and I follow this with stropping with a leather on wood/compound.

Any help would be appreciated.

I've found wet-dry papers up to 1500 grit at Home Depot, Lowes and OSH. I don't know what you have in your area but you can usually find it at the bigger stores.

My local NAPA store has 5 sheet packs of 3M. Not cheap, but good quailty...

The best places to find really fine wet/dry paper would be like an AutoZone, Napa type places. If you know of any where in your area that supplies automotive paints then they should have some that go up a little higher than 2000. They will also have abrasive pastes and things for polishing metals and finishes.

As much as I am ashamed to admit it, I get mine from Walmart. In the auto section with paint. I have gotten 120-2000 grit there.
