Lot of good work went into that, and I can admire that.
Heavily stylized things are not my cup of tea. But the brass capping on the handle, the lines, very well done. The inserts, the same. The sheath, looks great.

Thank you for showing the picture. I'd like to see more picts from forumites and their work.

Serious cho creep...up and around the corner.

After checking out the link, I have to wonder how the "hollow ground blade... made of high chromium 440c martensitic stainless tool steel" would do on a piece of 4" diameter seasoned bois d'arc wood.:D

interesting kukhri shaped object, every time i see a 440c impliment which you might use for impact chops rather than cutting or thrusting i remember that video of the shopping channel guy demonstrating how strong his 440c katana was. i hope it's heat treatment was done correctly. luckily for it's owner it is fairly short and will probably hang nicely and decoratively on a wall somewhere. (strangely enough, the video has been ressurected & is in the thread currently just under this one in the listings at this Linky)

at least it has a cho, some famous brands of KSO that will remain unmentioned do not. too bad he chose to emulate the grip shape on them cheap pot metal indian tourist models.

while appreciateing the techniques, effort, craftsmanship and skill that went into it, i find i do not care for it overall. however, to each his own, it's mum & dad probably likes it.

I like: blade profile, file work, sheath, work done on the bolster and buttcap
Not so much: stone handle, handle shape, file work done all the way into the tang, steel choice

All in all I'd say it's impressive in one respect, but leaves a lot to be desired for us "user" types. If it were slightly less ornate (stabilized wood handle, smaller handle ring, no file work on the tang - seems like that could get irritating, better handle shape) and was made out of 5160, 1060 or some other appropriate steel it would make quite the elegant-yet-usable khuk.

Just my 2 cents. I'm sure there are a lot of ppl that are fine with their blades being wallhangers.

That sheath is making me drool.

No hate here, Shann; I just wouldn't want to grip it, and the blade proportions are out of whack to my need for extreme strength. ( too thin waist)

Really nice finish work.

The sheath is really really cool. The rest not to my taste. I like the brass detail though

No hate Shan & I can see a lot of hours went into it, & respect due to the maker for that.

Its just ugly to me eye.

If you or others love it, thats great.

The World would be boring & robotic if we all had the same taste or the lack of honesty to say our true thoughts.

Nope...no hate. Just don't like it...but I would say the same about a lot of other knives too.

Why all the hate? Its a nice looking piece. The sheath is wonderful.

Well you weren't talking to me cuzz I expressed no hate, and you already know I like the sheath. And I personally think the handle is beautifully done. I love the shape, and I even like the placement of the cho. The two things that turn me off are the steel, 440 is junk IMO, and the grind. I'm not a big fan of hollow grind even on small knives.

Very artistic, excellent workmanship, a stylishly executed knife. That said, I wouldn't trade my scruffy old villager AK for it, not even if you threw in a case of beer on the trade. Pretty don't matter much when it's time to chop something. ;)
