Don't see many people posting about Elishewitz's knives, but Allen makes a fine piece of functional form. The devil's in the details....not many have the skill or take take the trouble to spend time on the little embellishments.

As I understand, this is a one-off Hoplite framelock with a slightly smaller blade than the usual 4inches (I may be wrong) on his other Hoplites. I've never seen such embellishments on other Hoplites as well. This is just like a fine watch, that cuts.

That stainless Mike Norris damascus doesn't hurt either;)

Very tastefully done, Allen.

Wow, that is a gorgeous piece - and your photos highlight a lot of the attractive details. Love the gold-inlayed maker's mark.

That's some knife.
A lot going on but it all adds to the beauty.
Outstanding Damascus.
Congratulations!

That is gorgeous! Allen makes an amazing knife. The whole knife is a beautiful and function work of art. CONGRATS!

Its a beautiful knife - I like it all except for that notch or step on the back of the blade.

I'm not sure what the concept is behind that, but I'd like to think that Allen's inspiration for it was based on blades used by natives or those swords used in the age of antiquities. For me, it resembles the "parang ilang" or "mandau" used by the Iban in borneo.

The blade is called "Hoplite"....

thanks for your observation and comments!

That has definitely got a LOT going on in the style department. I love the damascus and the treatment around the pivot.

Alan Elishewitz does posess some extraordinary skills.

I understand he makes custom watches and his shop is kept absolutely immaculate.
