I sweat BIG TIME! I was totally soaked Thursday, and pretty darn wet friday. Saturday I dug my Vapor out and found fine rust.

I must sweat some highly corrosive stuff eh?

I have had the same problem with my Chive and my Scallion. I don't carry them they as they are a little small for my taste. They formed little specs of rust while sitting in a box with packets of sillica gell(absorbs water). I also had this problem with a Gerber Chamelion and a satin finished Benchmade 9000 SBT. I tryed coating the blades in a little milltec and storing them that way but nothing stops the rust from comming back. None of my other BM's or other knives do this. I place the blame on satin finishes. I am sure that some satin finishes are fine but I won't buy them if I can have BTC or a plain finish instead. IMO satin finishes aren't that great looking anyway.

I've had the same problem, both with my knives and my carry pistol, when carried close to my body in the summer.

FWIW, I tested Militec-1 and found it to be a lousy protectant.

The best thing I've found to lube and protect my gear is FP-10 CLP. It seriously cut down on my maintenance time, and saved me some dough as it cleans, lubes, and protects all in one. Great stuff, great price, great company to deal with as well.

Just my thoughts,

I’ve had the same problem with the only two Kershaw’s I own, a chive and scallion. I just make a larger effort to check them out each evening when I wear one of them. Since I rotate through a lot of knives I don’t have to do that everyday. BTW, depending on how bad the rust is an eraser can clean it right up.
