Fine scratches on blade

A friend gave me his knife to sharpen and asked if I could get the scratches out too. The scratches are fairly light, looks like he cut through a pop can at some point. Does anybody have any ideas what to try to get rid of these?

Thanks!

A good metal polish may get rid of them or at least reduce then a bit depending on depth. Flitz, autosol and a mag wheel polish are three I can think of right now LOL.:D:foot:

Any polish probably won't get out the scratch, but pics would definitely help out. What type of knife? If we knew more, we can give you more help. For now, I would say you will need some grit sandpaper, the same grit as the knife has on it now, and basically reapply the finish. Very easy to do, but will need the right grit paper, along with a hard sanding block to keep all the nice straight grind lines.
