I have the 6000 grit polish tapes but wondered if there is anything finer that could be used? BTW I would be putting it on the glass blanks.

Some leather or other material, and load it with some diamond paste. but then you can only use a stropping motion.

well at and above 6000 grit I don't see the need for leather unless I'm just wrong and stupid.

Why wouldn't you want leather, if you want to get a finder scratch patter use finer particles, and you can achieve this by using diamond paste.

well I did find some 0.5 micron abrasive sheets(9000 grit) so we'll see how that goes. and don't take offense to not wanting to use leather it's just a my view. I don't like using leather to finish knives, it's just my weird ocd.

I can (and do!) buy polishing film up to 15,000 at one of the larger DIY shops near me. I cut that down and use it on built-up stone blanks for my EdgePro.

From there, the next step I go to is CrO2 compound on a cowhide strop mounted on an EdgePro blank. Afterwords, I finish with a high quality bare horsehide strop, also mounted on a stone blank. I don't believe there is anything reasonably available that will provide a finer abrasive than the .01 micron silicates in horsehide.

It works for me!:D
