Anybody know if ESEE plans on making a knife with out the choil? The 6 would be the PERFECT knife IMO without it. I know the ESEE 5 doesn't but the 1/4" stock is a bit much.

Junglas ,5,Hest Izula AH1 ?

I just like my hand to be situated closer to the blade because that's where your power and precision cutting takes place. You have far better leverage when the work is closer to you. Yes you can choke up, but it would be far more comfortable if I could just keep my hand on the grip.

The balance on the six is pretty amazing.

I dont disagree but I use my 3 more than any here lately and I barely notice the choil but that is just me... choil-less ESEE Knives choices are Junglas,ESEE5,HEST,Izula,AH-1 for now.

I actually prefer the choil when choking up on the blade for precision work. Just my .02...

I don't notice the choil either. Doesn't make a difference to me if it is there or not.

I really like the choil on the 6, less so on the 3,4. It's bigger on the 6 and just a little small on the 3,4 IMHO.

I don't really see the choil as an issue except maybe the appearance of the blade. I haven't tried and use my just arrived RC-6 (you did see just arrived:):)) for fine work yet, but I would think from past experience that the choil would help not hinder.

My 2 cents,

I'll admit that I don't like the choils and would very much prefer if the edge came all the way to the handle. A very small sharpening choil would be okay though.

It has never been a huge deal breaker, but I would probably own more ESEE knives if they didn't have choils. Im still a fan of RAT knives, and recommend them to all my friends.

My two cents.

Without the choil, the edge still would not go to the edge due to the ESEE logo (like the ESEE-5), so you'd probably gain 1/4", maybe 1/2" at most. I don't have an ESEE so don't know if a choil is necessary, but the difference is so little, it doesn't seem to warrant a new version.

I like the choil for choking up , and it gives a good starting point when hitting the benchstone.

S500, that picture has been my desktop background for the last year, words cannot describe the beauty of that wolf. If they fixed the handle on the RC3 so it offered a full grip, instead of handling like a bar of wet soap, they could ditch the coil-but in order for it to be useful as a knife, it needs to be there. That's my criticism of the design, which I'm sure just falls on deaf ears, too many people use them and like them to change anything. I just cannot use the RC3 for any real amount of time because it offers almost no grip.
