Finger Choils - My favorite way to void a factory warranty.

Ever since I made my first finger choil mod, every non-choil knife I have owned just felt like something was missing.
Now, every folding knife I own has one :)

-Let's see your custom finger choils-

I have posted the Cryo and one of the Opinel's previously but here are the rest:

I see no reason for them, a knife is meant to be held by the handle and I've never bought a knife if I could not live with the handle. If a person needs a finger choil then they should just get a smaller blade.

However, your work is crisp and clean, nicely done mod.

I did my 560 a while back too.

and a finger choil on the JYD2 as well.

and enlarged the sharpening choil on my 550.

Nice work.

But no choil for me. You get the most leverage from the section of edge closest to the handle. Since a handle won't gouge your hand, you can exert more controlled force than if your finger is in a choil. While gripping a handle, your hand contacts a larger surface than while using a choil, so you get better fine control also. A choil gives you a shorter blade when desired, but the advantage isn't worth the penalty. Choils look cool though.... Even to me.

Very nice work.

I agree not for me. Im cool with a great design incorporating intelligently executed choils, but in most cases they are an unnecessary waste of cutting edge.
