Finger Grooves: Like 'em?

I have always had Bucks 110's without FG, and just ordered a new Custom 110, but am thinking about seeing if I can change it to add FG. Who here prefers the FG? What do you like about them? thanks

Durbin

I like them they fit my hand well on the ones I have.

You could just order one with FG and one without:D

I prefer the finger grooves because they fit my hands perfectly and improve the grip. My hands are medium to small.

The FG models fit my hand better but on some of the stag and buffalo handle customs I think the regular style looks better.

The first 110 I bought new was a FG (1990), I like the fit in my hand. For a custom, it real depends on if it's going to a user or not...

I agree with messer -- if you're going with stag/antler a full scale looks better... wood looks good with either full scale or FG

The Custom is a 100 in Brass Bolster, with Koa handle, and BG-42 blade. With Rivets. If that helps in suggestions. My hand is not big, as in meaty, but I have long fingers, musician's hands, comes in handy as I am one.

Isn't it funny how that works out??? :D

I have what I suppose is a long grip, and while a 560 feels OK, a regular wood scaled 110FG does not...unless it has a set of chunky stag scales... :)

"hay you got your trax decoder ring yet? ":p

I have large hands and my 110 with fingergrooves feels uncomfortable to hold, but it does look nice and there certainly have been some beautiful pics of them on this forum.

My thoughts exactly.

Durbin, I have a BG42 brass standard frame, with Koa, without pins, on order. The Koa wood has great depth in the grain, I didn't want handle pins or a rocker pin to detract from the woods' beauty.

I just noticed on page 16 in the buck pic thread that there are several BG-42 customs with Koa to see....

This is also my feeling on the topic. I only have one Fg model and thats a 560 titanium. I do like the feel of this knife though. None of my finger grooved 110's ever stayed with me long enough to take a liking to them.
I will keep an eye out for your pics :D

I believe he's had them....the 560 is the only 1 he decided to keep

...not a valid comparison...
I'm guessing the comparison was made...and he parted ways with the F/G's

Apples and orangutans...The 560/186 finger grooves are much longer than the 110FG's...they actually stick out farther...not a valid comparison...

Its not really a comparison either...
All I stated was I like the FG on the 560 and (there have been some beautiful pics of them on BF). I no longer own any Finger grooved 110's, they didnt fit my hand quite right.

Durbins' title is- Finger grooves: Like 'em?

I do like em- on the 560 :D

Just to extend the comparisons...

I believe it was Mike Kerins who pointed out that the Custom Shoppe finger grooves are different than the production finger grooves; the production grooves extend into the bolsters, the Custom Shoppe grooves don't...

I've handled both; it does make a big difference...

And both are different from the 560/186's...

I have a Buck that I think is a version of their 110 with an OD green plastic handle with finger grooves. I have a fairly large hand, and it doesn't feel too bad to me, but not too good to me, either. It just stays in my BOB instead of being used otherwise. I found long ago that one finger groove for my index finger only works best for me, or just a "straight" handle with no grooves at all.
