sorry about this I thought I clicked "preview post" just to see if the picture came through but it got posted somehow

here's the rest of it

is the blade measured from tip to top of finger hole I would assume so, but what if its not as clear as it is on this picture
or its a less obvious finger notch and the final grind line is not clear, but rather tappers and rounds off

or like this the useful edge is long, and continues past the finger hole. I think the reasoning for the blade length measurement standards that often measure past the edge is to measure the distance the blade could penetrate. but the finger should stop the blade from penetrating past the hole

AKTI method would measure (in a straight line) from the forward most part of the scale to the tip of the blade.

Play Devil's advocate. Pretend you're a cop who's had a bad day and really wants to throw somebody in jail. How would you measure it?

Arguing the finer points of law with a pissed off cop on the side of the road is kinda pointless. You might win in court, but that's after you've been arrested, booked, jailed for some period of time, and spending thousands of dollars in legal fees. Personally, I'd rather avoid being arrested in the first place.
