is the blade measured from tip to top of finger hole I would assume so, but what if its not as clear as it is on this picture
or its a less obvious finger notch and the final grind line is not clear, but rather tappers and rounds off
or like this the useful edge is long, and continues past the finger hole. I think the reasoning for the blade length measurement standards that often measure past the edge is to measure the distance the blade could penetrate. but the finger should stop the blade from penetrating past the hole
