Fingergroove date?

...???...Buck still hasn't put finger grooves ["nail nick"?] on their 120 Generals...Good idea though... ;)

I think he means finger-grooved handles on the 110 & 112... Dunno when they were added.

Oh, the routered or "jigged" scales, like on the Asian Water Buffalo scaled 110 Customs??? Yeah, that is cool...

I wouldn't mind having a jigged 120... :)

Interesting question...

Are any other scales jigged besides the Asian Water Buffalo???

In Blade's Guide the 110 eighth-version,1981-1985, 4 dots, was the first version where finger grooves were introduced. If you are referring to fixed blade knives, the "Group Six" knives with Lignum Vitae handles, circa 1951-54, were the first wooden handled knives and probably had finger grooves, although I can't find a picture to confirm my thought.

The finger grooved 110 was introduced in 1982. These should be stamped with 2 dots before the 110 and 2 after.
If you are refering to the fixed bladed knives, that would have to be sometime in the 1950's.
Hope this helps.

Thank you all very much. I thought I had edited the post to specify the 110, and appreciate you all for anticipating that. I had found an old 110 laying around and was curious as to how old it could be, but not knowing much about bucks yet, I don't know what features to ask about, other than the handle shape. I am overseas now, but when I get back home I will count rivets and look at the blade shape. Thanks again for all your help.
