Bruce E changed my grinding technique. Now the skin on the side of my index fingers is starting to thicken and get tough.

I'm so proud!

It's great ain't it!:D

all my fingers have tuffened up except for the ring and pinky on the left hand, must be the way i grind. The only reason my pinky on my right hand has tuffened is from it draggin on my desk at work when using the mouse.:)

The nice thing now is when you get that "perma dirt" that wont come off with soap, you can use some 120 grit to grind it off.

Nick Wheeler showed me the trick of holding the blade on the side of your finger- my grinds went much better and it is a lot easier to keep the blade square to the wheel and level.

that's the way I do it.
yup that will toughen it up
when you do a double edger you'll see if it's toughened enough:D :D
the side of the finger that is:)

I think most of us leftys grind that way. It's the only way I can keep steady control and pressure on the blade. Most of my blades are fixed hunting, so I make long, even grinds. This works especially well on flat grinds.

Way to GO !!!!!!
Glad to hear that the fingers are toughening up to the belt,Bet you aren't as scared to get them near the grinder anymore:D
Hope I was able to help you out some.
Bruce
