I know this thread had probably been done to death by the ignorant, but are there any advantages to certain finishes of busse knives?sorry if this thread sounds repetitive, but there is a severe lack of info on them anywhere else.

Thanks Guys

I find that the satin or double cut finishes seem to retain the "new in box" look longer. Although I don't use my Busses for culinary work I would think that a coated blade would provide unnecessary friction for more delicate work compared to the uncoated satin or DC blades.

My two cents.;)

the epoxy bake on finishes protect from corosion(which isnt that big of a problem with infi) and camouflage your blade it you are sneaking up on a unsuspecting tree or what not :D
the standard epoxy finishes dont cost extra but they do wear
the DC looks good and lasts almost forever but costs more
satin finish looks pretty and has less drag when cutting but gets scratches easy

Coated blades are a big advantage in severe weather areas where you may not be able to clean your equipment often. Coated blades offer a lot of drag when cutting soft media. You would be surprised how much of a difference in drag there is between a satin blade and a coated blade when cutting through soft materials.

double cut finish is an easy finish to maintain.

Satin is the best looking but the hardest to maintain. it also glides through soft media the best.

DCBB is easy to maintain if you have access to a blast cabinet. Satin is easy to maintain with scotchbrite pads or similar abrasives.

From what I am seeing the coating is way to go. Its less expensive.

Just beat it off then use scotch brite pads on drill like Ham SOlO's video.

Cheap satin.

great for user ..thats my plan for my users anyway.

but no stripper til its needed. I plan on working it off first:D:thumbup:
