Just thinking ahead a few days here, what grit should I take this blade to before beadblasting? This is prep for Gun Kote. Thanks,

Hey Dave. I know there are lots of variables, but I have good luck with a 320 grit hand rubbed finish prior to blasting.

Great, thanks Gene I've taken it to 400 so I should be good. Appreciate the help.

By the way, that's a very clean website with an excellent description of your line and approach to pricing.

Dave, When I was into that sort of thing before I went to glass bead I hit the blades with a blast of 150 garnet. If you going to gun kote the blade you maybe better off just doing that.

I'd say anywhere between 220-400, whatever feels good to you.
But, I sure wouldn't waste my time handrubbing a blade that was going to be blasted, and then painted with a thick covering. Just grind, and blast. ;)

Dave,
I've blasted and coated alot of them and aluminum oxide blast has always done the best. Sand does ok also.
Depending on the steel, you can stop at 220 or 320.

Mike not long enough. That sucker was here yesterday banging on my door and I was taking my shower for the month. :grumpy: Now I may have to take another one before month's end.
