Finish Durability

Hey fellas, I was just curious how durable the blade finish on Busse blades is, namely the Urban Shadow camo finish on say the Tank Buster. Thanks.

Well, I've never had the urban shadow coating, but I have had tanker grey and black crinkle coat.

For starters, all coatings will wear off with use, but it depends how hard you use them. The tanker grey on my NMSFNO wore off quick because I cut up thick, heavy cardboard boxes and used the knife for batoning (A LOT). I wore a good portion off, but the coating that remains after use if tough to get off.

The black on my FFBM is wearing too, but I chop a lot with it and, recently, have batoned with it.

Coatings are cool looking, but they do wear off eventually. And when that happens you strip the last of the coating off and polish up everything; afterwards it's like you have a brand new and different knife

Thanks for the reply. Is the Urban Shadow closer to crinkle coating or the tanker grey?

It holds up better than some I have used. I have not worn through either of the two I had coated from normal use. I just strip them when they started looking a tiny bit work (excuse to do it).

I like the look of of the bare infi. I don't even bother to gussy it up yet.

Well my old man has a BATAC in a desert camo and if it's anything like your urban camo, it'll hold up like the black crinkle, maybe better. He hasn't used it becuase he's thinking about selling it so I'm going off of feel, not experience.

Sorry about the double post, I didn't think I pressed post and I couldn't delete it, woops

I have worn through the finish in one chopping session on several knives. But it just kinda smooths out and makes the knife better IMHO.
