Hi guys,
I have a 25 year old copy of a Gerber MKI made by Explorer from Japan. It't been carried in the glove compartment of many cars & trucks, and the grey paint on the handle is chipped. Is there a better material than paint to recoat it with? Thought I'd wire-wheel the old finish off. Maybe an epoxy?

Thanks,

Steve

I refinished a Gerber MKII handle once with a product called Alumahyde, which is an epoxy based spraypaint available from Brownell's.

It is very tough and alot like the original finish. It takes about a week to cure though.
