Finish Options

Since the new line has so many finish/handle options, which options are everyone thinking about? I have not seen in person anything other than my blades which are all black crinkle coated. I was wanting some opinions from those of you who have held or possibly used one with any other coating beside the black crinkle. I'm looking for the toughest, most durable finish available on the new line. I was hoping any of the other finishes available would be just as tough as the black crinkle.

I know have black, green, tan, white/grey, and bead blasted finishes. Of the ones that I have, the desert tan is the toughest in my opinion.

Les,
I may (very likely) have overlooked it, but is the bead blasted finish be available as a "standard" option?

bead blast double cut is the toughest by far, i have NEVER been able to wear mine off.
also, i believe a 2001 gmc yukonII can kick the ass of a ford excursion with both loaded to the nuts with drunk infi.

if you don't believe me just ask the pink team:eek:  :D

Ian,

As far as I can tell, the green is very similar to the black. The texture seems to be a bit different but, overall, very similar.

Bo,

I'm not sure what is going to be standard offerings. I would guess that bead blast will be in there somewhere.

As to the double cut... I don't have any of those. But given the process, I would guess that the skunk is correct. I have scuffed up some regular bead blast finishes.

Les,

Thanks! Must have been sleeping in class, but what's the difference between double cut and bead blast?

Not sure exactly. I'm thinking it is the same process only more "thorough". Skunk? You're the bead blast king...

"Double Cut" finish is Satin polished first then blasted with a "ceramic peen" media IIRC. Definitly my favorite finish in the Busse line.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm guessing the double cut bead blasted is just a super, satin finish style right(?) with no coating. But the main concern for me is rust protection in a tropical, salty climate with no air conditioning. So my INFI will be in the elements 24-7 so to speak. I know the crinkle coating is great, especially under the micarta where all the sweat and grime seem to collect. But I'd rather have a different color than black (like jungle/coyote style)and was not sure which options to choose from, but I definitly need a durable coating simply for a salty/humid environment. Also, the new XXXL grip will be a welcome as presently I have two tennis overwrap grips on my Mistress to fill her out for the best comfort. Anyway,I figured I'd ask about the different coatings, which I've yet to see in person.:)

I hear that the desert tan is tougher than the black crinkle according to tests done at the shop. I have not heard how the green compares to the tan or black, but you can bet it is no wuss in comparison. If Busse changes something it is to make it tougher.
