My first 2 bk11s are due to be delivered Monday or Tuesday so let the modding begin.

The first one will most likely be an edc for me. So it will see quite varried uses including.

☆some utility use opening boxes, mail, etc.
☆a fair amt of food prep and utensil duty.
☆skinning/cleaning deer (as season opens here tomorrow)
☆skinning/cleaning small game
☆cleaning fish sometimes.
☆last but not least camping duties.

Not to say it will the primary knife for all of these activities but being that it wil be close at hand it will be what I reach for in the unexpected pops up.

So now that you know what kind of action it will see my question is what type of finish would you recommend or prefer.

☆mirror polish - I liked this idea at first but decided it would be nearly impossible to keep looking good Dominica with food prep and acidic vegetables.
☆semi polish and allow to patina gracefully - kind of like this idea
☆forced patina - mustard, hot sauce, hot vinager, bleach, blurring, etc I have seen results from hot vinager and from the bleach and blurring thatbis really was impressed with.
☆straight up blueing - I've also seen impressive results from this.
☆something I have listed

So which would you recommend considering the uses it will see?

I would go with the semi polish, do a little work to it and then let nature take its course!

Good point on the blurring. Im sure the chemical itself is poisenous but once the reaction has taken place and the blade washed/cleaned would it still leach off poisen?

Strip it, add Ka-Bar micarta and do nothing else. A naturally occurring patina is awesome.

I polished mine.
Then I let it form a natural patina.
But I did leave the coating on under the scales.

Actually I have a set of tommythewho scales in curly maple comming for it. Also looking for suggestions on what color liners to put under them if I need to thicken the grip a bit.

I'm thinking NO, but would like to hear from others with more experience.
