Have any of you ever removed the finish for you Busse. If so how is the best way to do it?Does it affect what it is worth? The Busse BA-E I got has had the finish sanded down to a smooth finish. The only reason I can think of why someone would do is is maybe to remove some kydex marks or something. The knife its self does not look like it has ever been used.
BTW has anyone got a extra dog tag for it?

The finish can be removed either by sanding or some types of paint remover. At this point it probably won't affect the value, since it is no longer in new condition anyway. The Older Busses hold their value very well even after use so you really can't do much to harm the value(besides gross modifications ie grinder)

If you are going to remove the coating I'd just put it to use and help it out a little ;):D:D

I hope that helps.

BTW the official Dog Tags are extremely collectible and very hard to come by.

Thanks, after it sees a little use I will probably take off the finish.
I also just finished the folding stock arm to my 10/22.Striped it and applied a coat of spray on truck bed coating. It looks just like the Busse finish but it is no were near as hard.

Eric is understating the value of authentic original dog tags. The E-Series dog tags are different than the military style which came with vintage Busse's.
