Bobby,

I use my Roger's Rangers spike tomahawk regularly. Over time, it has come to acquire several scratches and abrasions along the face of the blade. I was wondering if it is possible to cover up these abrasions by doing touch ups on the period finish. If so, how would someone go about doing the touch ups? Thanks.

Since your Ranger hawk has a finish straight from the forge, scratches should add a little character to the hawk. If the scratches are not deep you can clean them up with some fine steel wool and then rub it down with some boiled linseed oil. If the hawk has deep scratches you will have to sand them out with course sandpaper. If you do any heavy sanding or grinding you would alter the finish and lose the period look to a certain extent. Let me know if i can help.

Bobby
