Hi Darrel,
I received mine on Friday, and I was amazed at myself on how I was able to finish this knife in very little time, and how good it turned out. I bought the upgrade kit w/' green and black micarta, along with the extra screw kit. The only problem that I have is that there are no extra flat head screws that came with the screw kit, and I stripped one out, and I'm not going to be able to get it out of the knife with out destroying it. That, and the liner isn't that secure, I don't have to do much to get it to fail. Don't get me wrong, I love the knife, and am carrying and using it for light cutting chores (99% of what I use my knife for anyway), and it works great. One other thing, I can't get the lock side liner to stop rubbing the blade, and it's causing rub marks on the blade when I open it. What would be the cure for this? Remember I won't be able to take the knife apart since one of the standoff screws is stripped, and I'll have to destroy it to get it out.

Take the knife all apart except the stripped screw.
Then put a little side pressure on the liners and unscrew the stripped 1-72. Call and get some 1-72 flat heads for the next time. Koval or Halpren carry 1-72 flat head screws! They will be long so reassemble then cut to length!
The screw kit has replacment screws for the outside screws only. The replacment screw kit was designed for replacing all the screws after many times of taking it apart and putting it together. This allows for fresh screws.

The liner rubbing is an easy adjustment.
Just move back about 1 in from the lock up cut on the liner. (looking down on the lock bar) put a small bend in the lock bar moving towards the blade side.
The bend need only be .005-.01 . this should cure you problem.

geez,i almost picked one of these up at the little rock show...maybe i'll order one.doesnt look THAT difficult...

Maurice,

Do it. They're a lot of fun. A couple of my buddies want to build them after seeing mine. For 30 bucks you can't go wrong.

$30 is nothing to spend for this knife kit ( I would have paid double that, but don't tell Koval they may raise the prices

). The kit produced a great knife. The lock up on mine is solid. I was pleasantly suprised by the outcome. For the money you normally wouldn't expect much but this knife far exceeds my expectations.

I am probably going to get another one. I just have to let my girlfriend cool off. I live in an apartment so I do not have a workshop. So I put the knife to gether in the living room. Well after sanding the micarta scales by hand, it looked like I tried to make a toothpick from a 2x4. She was not pleased to say the least.
