well i just finished hanging this double bit today. got the handle in the amil today. it is an ames true temper replacement double bit handle. the handle is wonderful. PERFECT grain orientation. COMPLETELY straight. love it. and the handle needed almsot no stock removal to get it hung.

slathered the top with linseed oil, it should dry in a few days and become really hard.

Grain orientation on the handle. A little burnt, thats my fault.

Then here are some pictures of the four axes my friend scored last weekend, along with the panther i was talking about.

I like the burn. I have burned a couple of my hafts at the eye - you should see them soak up the linseed then. Plus a different look too.

14 huh? Well done, sir.

i have a Kelly Woodslasher. the bit was worn down quite a bit, the poll is mushroomed and the handle was almost wrecked from under-striking but still usable. i trimmed the head down to a Hudson Bay style. believe the handle is original as it was/is painted red

nice axe heads you have there. thanks for the posting.

Nice hang. It's fun bringing back old axe heads and do whatever you want to your axes. That's most of the fun is putting the little touches that appeal to you on them.
