Let me be the first to tell you. That is one sweet looking knife. :D
Since you made it for yourself I hope that you get alot of use from it.

Mitch (Anvilring) !!
I borrowed a camera from my neighbour,
Tomorrow I will post my shop, forge and belt sander (all made by me)... ;)

Super knife! It is really cool to see the influences of other cultures on this craft we love: bladesmithing! Your knife looks different from other "chef knives" I've seen and I think it looks great. What is the handle material?? I really look forward to seeing your forge and shop tour pix. Sorry for not being able to post earlier but at work sometimes, things go crazy. Now I'm home and inspired to head out to the shop and do some finish work. Be sure and post those pix soon. Also I'll add, that loaf of bread looks fabulous, did you bake it or do you have excellent bakeries in Turkey?? Local ones for a small area of the coummunity like in France???

regards, and congrats...

Hey mitch,
Thanks. Handle is Corian + Brass. The Knife is all my design, I didnt see any similar so far either.
And the bread thing; It is from local bakery that I eat everyday. :D

something of intrest mayby. And maybe a pic of you as well.... your our most "far flung" bladesmith on the board! I wish I had a bakery like that around here! :) Also, I like the Corian but what of local "Turkish" exotic woods?? Do you have any???
I'm off to bed.... it's been a long day.

 wow! i like it alot. coolest kitchen knife ive ever seen(honestly). is it for yourself or is it for a chef freind? how much are you asking for it?
you gotta make a matching set, and have an informertial cutting ax heads, and pop cans

Nice design and lines on the handle. I think the overall design is nice too. The large bolster makes me guess that the balance of the knife is pretty neutral in use.

Is that a large lanyard hole I see in the extended tang at the butt of the handle?? If so, is it used to hang the knife up when you are done using it....or some other use maybe?

Click on the link in my sig below for info on tips & techniques to improve your knife photographs. Some of the setups shown are surprisingly simple and cheap.

Mitch, it is very beautiful day here in Bodrum. Its the beginning of spring in this southern town. I began to take pics in the sun. Now I am going to the sea shore. Unfortunatelly there is no exotic wood here I guess. The climate of south-west Anatolia is the same as Southern Italy or Greece (There is a Greek Island 10 miles away from my house, you can see houses or traffic).

My elven brother (as my nick is elven) , I began to make a peelers and a fillet knife and may be I'll add someting else to the set. As I said earlier, I didnt make it for a customer so I didnt think of the price but it may be gone for 50-60$.

RokJok, yes the main reason of the bolster was that. The rear bolster pulls the Point of Balance for an inch, I had to add some weight to the front (the thin blade doesnt help to balance). The hole is formed on the extension of the rear curve and the purpose is just to hang.

All viewers and commenters, Thank you all. It was a joy to share my work with you. Be sure there will be more to come :) :D ...

Olive wood and/or rosewood ?

Çok güzel biçak :D

faramir thanks and Olive is available very much (heey you are from Tolkien-world also, brotherhood of "kithen-knife" in this thread :p ). I didnt think of it as exotic...
Do you know Turkish? Tesekkurler... :D

Damn,
I was preparing the shop tour with my borrowed camera. I took one picture and camere started to "beep", saying "card full" :o . It doesnt allow to review pictures and delete some so I came back to download the pics to my PC :barf: . Damn, damn, damn, where is the USB cable  . Nooo I lost it, cant find it anywhere.
Sorry guys, one day is wasted :( , the shop tour delayed for one day. The town is 10 miles away and I dont have time to go and get a new cable today. Tomorrow will be a new day. :) ...

This is a weird story. I really don't know much about Tolkien or his books (except that they are very long). This forum name is "faramir" because the e-mail address associated with it (which i had to provide when signing up) is also "faramir". And i chose that because no other name that i liked was avaliable back then and i remembered that guy from the LotR movie was named faramir :D

I'm not sure if olive wood is exotic enough but it grows in your region/climate and has nice wood for handles in my opinion, better than anything else i can think of from this same climate. Maybe others can tell you more about their experience with olive wood.

Do you know Turkish? Tesekkurler... :D

Türkçe biliyorum ama türkçem az :D

That is perfection! What a beautiful and apparently very useful knife! Excellent work!
