Last night I finished a drop leg sheath for my Sus Scrofa. I wanted the form of the shape to reflect the lines of the Scrofa. I think it ended up looking like a chili pepper, but I still like it. I think it'll be a nice utility sheath for what I see myself using the SS for - working out in the yard and maybe doing trail work. Let me know what you think.

I tried some new things with this sheath. I ragged on the dye to get the effect I got with the tooling, I'm happy with that. I rubbed in some neatsfoot oil and let it soak in before putting on the final finish. I hope this will keep it nice and supple for some time. Lastly I tried a new technique for putting on the sealer, which I think worked very well. The leather is not incredibly glistening or hard to the touch. My leather experience moves on....

That thing is beautiful man! I love the color and pattern!

Very Nice. I really like the aged effect. It is a tough knife to make a sheath for due to its odd shape. Also nice tooling.

Hey?!? Excellent job, mikeymoto! I like that one a lot. That may be one of the best looking ones yet!

Thanks all.

It's 8/9oz leather I got from Tandy. I'm a little fed up with the quality of their "top quality" leather (uneven color, and few but still there range marks), so next time I need a shoulder I'm gonna try Wickett & Craig.

Tandy Leather!!! YUCK. I bought their leather twice and it was crap both times.

Wickett and Craig is the way to go. You will not believe the difference, it burnishes better, the sides and edges are easier to finish and it will take the tooling better. Oh they dont sell just shoulders or double shoulders in leather you would want for sheaths. They told me they may start selling them in the future, but not yet.

Sending PM. :D
