Number 21, Stubby Tanto
440C Hand Rubbed to 600
Nickel Silver Bolsters and Pins
Black Paper Micarta Scales
6 7/8" Overall, 3 3/8" Blade
I'm ashamed, tang isn't taperd, I think this is the second full tang knife I've made that wasn't. The small inset pic shows its fatal flaw, where one bolster set "lower" than the other and is wider where it meets the tang than its mate -- dang! But since I'd already ground one set of bolsters off this thing and it was the last of my NS, I left it alone. Believe me, this whole knife reflects the lower end of my craftsmanship...
Even so, it's a sturdy little chunk to hold, and pretty too. This was my first try at carving leather, turned out okay even if you can't tell from my photography.
This was before I sharpened it, and that part was pretty satisfactory, though nothing like Mr Bill Buxton gets!!!
This is the ninth knife I've finished this year, and the last for 2001.
Thanks for all your help, folks. I begin and end my day here, and I'm glad.
