I'm ashamed, tang isn't taperd, I think this is the second full tang knife I've made that wasn't. The small inset pic shows its fatal flaw, where one bolster set "lower" than the other and is wider where it meets the tang than its mate -- dang! But since I'd already ground one set of bolsters off this thing and it was the last of my NS, I left it alone. Believe me, this whole knife reflects the lower end of my craftsmanship... :(

Even so, it's a sturdy little chunk to hold, and pretty too. This was my first try at carving leather, turned out okay even if you can't tell from my photography. :) This was before I sharpened it, and that part was pretty satisfactory, though nothing like Mr Bill Buxton gets!!!

This is the ninth knife I've finished this year, and the last for 2001.

Thanks for all your help, folks. I begin and end my day here, and I'm glad.

Dave

Looks good to me.
It appears you had a lot of angles and such to match up by hand. All in all, it came out fine.

Dave, it looks real good to me, I like the whole package, file work, handle material, bolsters all flow together like it grew that way. You can squeeze out at least 1 more before new years.

Bill ????

Hey whats this Mr.stuff :D :D

You're way ahead of me with that tanto grind, that's for sure. I think those are hard to do and looks like you had no problem with them. I like your filework and it looks to be a pretty sturdy knife.

Looks good to me,

ever notice that nobody can pick a knife to death like it's maker?

Hey, I sure didn't mean to sound apologetic! Just don't want to try to pull any wool over anyone's eyes. :) It's pretty satisfactory to hold and play with! Thanks for the comments, hope you all have a great day.

Looks fine to me too Dave. Whoever said nobody can pick a knife to death like it's maker, is RIGHT. Beautiful job on a difficult knife!

hey remenber that these are HANDMADE knives and are not perfect, i would be proud to have a smimalar piece on my table.

That is one I have never tried..She looks really Beautiful to me,Heck those bolsters don't look that bad.You should have seen some of mine even on nuber 150 or something like that.It is very hard to get things even when doing them by eye and I still have little problems that I have been having to correct, and it isn't easy..

Looks good, Dave.
Still, I think I like 39 pins(just kidding).
Happy Holidays, Greg

Wow! I really like the design, everthing about the knife works for me. If it were mine, I could definetly live with the bolsters. I look forward to being able to do work like that someday :)
