i was wondering if someone could help me out.. i recently finished a sheath for a fellow on another forum...

after the sheath was all finished up, i put the knife in for a few minutes to check the retention, when i was done i pulled the knife out and the blade was covered in moisture/condensation?? the sheath has already been stained and beeswaxed too...i have never had this happen before.. i wet-form 95% of the sheaths i make..

any advise on what to do?? it's been done for about a full day now and has had a small strip of newspaper inserted into it...

cheers.. Mike

Mike,

The beeswax will slow the evaporation rate. If it was pretty wet when you formed it, it will probably take longer than a day for it to dry.

Hang it up high in a fairly warm place and give it a couple of days. It should be fine.

I've had the same thing happen a couple of times, but I just let her hang a little longer and things worked out fine.

Ive had a bone dry sheath cause condensation on a blade after I work it over with a hair dryer to melt in the mink oil. It's flesh...get your hand good and hot and wrap it around a cold blade, same thing :).
