Didn't think to measure it. Think it's around 16" OAL. Padauk (sp) handle with mosaic pin. Copper guard and pommel. 1065 steel.

It taught me a lot, to try and teach someone else. I think He's happy with it.:)

Now that is nice  what kind of studs are those on the end? What kind of clay did yall use to get that hamon line?

I'm the student he's been teaching.

I tried to do more during the forging and grinding, but everytime I did something Mark would say, " Dammit your screwing it up! Giver 'ere." Or he would just take it from me.

That's alright though. I learned quite a bit. Hell of alot more than I would have learned trying this on my own. Mostly I learned: Hot steel on skin is bad, Black boogers are bad, Bring lots of cigarettes, Mark will drive a 1000 miles to kick somone's ass, and How much fun making blades is.

I tried to do most of the handle work, and it was great. It's really something else getting to make a handle that fits your hand perfectly.

I had that copper all nice and shiny on the sides, but Mark went and dumped blackening on it. Even with all his mistakes I think it turned out really well. :D

Seriously though, it really says something about Marks character that he's willing to take some punk kid under his wing and then let him keep something that he spent so much time working on. Someday I'll repay the favor.

I'm drawing out the ideas for the sheath as we speak.

haha Mark is that way :D He has tried to teach me sometimes at TrackRock, but you know how some of us older folk are :D But in all seriousness Mark is a damn fine teacher.

Terry,

The clay is premixed refractory cement brandname of DEMON. The studs are domed tacks.

Daniel did a great job on the handle shaping and overall design.

We just need to work on some hammer control :D

Oh , and gas prices the way the they are. You're safe over 500 miles. :)

ahh hell....Mark is a very patient person to be so old :) Need any help with that sheath mail that sucker down south :)
Brian

Brian, Mark isn't old---poor guy had a hard life--deciding between Georgia and Washington where to spend his declining days beating hell out of his anvil! ---Sandy---

Hey that looks mighty mighty nice there Mark Vampire Hunter D Williams, that might make for a mean stencil and one that would need a long blade. :D

Nice job guys,

Bill

Thanks for the compliments.

I'm not worried about the sheath. I have an excellent video by Chuck Burrows to use as a tutorial. Plus I've done a little leather work in past.

My hammer control really does suck. Either too soft or too hard and way off center.

Pretend that Mark's face is the size of a quarter, and place it right where you need the hammer to hit. You'll be there in no time!! You guys did a great job on that one. Looking forward to the whole package!
