Thank you S.Alexander. I see what you mean and I will be aware of that in my design from now on. By the way the guard is micarta.Looks like a good file knife. I like the stacked leather washers.
One comment, if the bottom of the ricasso lined up with the handle rather than the (horn?) guard, it would flow better.
Thank you ProfessorI like it. My tastes in fixed blades has changed over the years to more natural materials, and the lack of a pronounced guard. I like the ability to choke up as close to the edge as possible. This one checks a lot of the boxes for me.
A brown leather, pouch-style sheath would complete the package, IMO. Nice work!
Thanks XL. The grind took forever. The file started out around 5/16" thick and all I have is a 1x30
Yes I anneal and then straighten the files. Then heat treat and temper.Working with files can be rough. And on a 1X30 especially. Been there, done that. I still do the occasional file knife myself.
Did you anneal/soften the file before working it?
Thank you kindly. "Fencepost" I love it. Great nameI like it, it's a clean tight little knife
Sorry for not getting back to you. I just saw your post. I used super glue on the Leather. Works really well I have used it on another handle with great results.I love the abrupt change in handle material. Looks great. Can I ask what you finnished the leather with?
