I have had a couple of these 'hawks, great lil tools for the money! (~20$) That paired with the new BK&T 16 makes for a very nice, dependable woods combo that is very light/compact. Both tools together barely weigh more then my BK9 and probably less then a lot of hatchets.

I stripped the BK16 and stippled the scales, Finally got around to stripping the SOG today.

I think they came out nicely...very pleased with the ''matched'' look. Now all I have to do is bend some Kydex for the SOG to match my 16's ''Sharkie'' sheath.

Looks great man. Yeah, for the money those SOG hawks are pretty sweet. They are tougher than I thought they would be too. I like what you've done with the BK-16 a lot, but I was under the impression they were going to be flat grinds when they released them.

Thanks.

Yeah the Production models are FFG...this is a pre-production model, in Sabre-grind.

Do you use the hawk for chopping wood? With it being so lightweight how does it do?

Did you do anything to the finish of the BK16 or is that simply how it looks after it was stripped?

Great job..

it's not a hatchet, but it works well. Not something I would wanna cut a rick of firewood with, but for a overnighter or weekend...it will do the job.
