Thought I would share one I just finished up for OKCA show in April. My first time having a table at a show and trying to get some blades ready!

Specs:
Steel: Mike Turner's Chainsaw blade & 1080 Powder damascus with a 1095 SanMai core (Whew that is a mouth full)
OAL: 10"
Blade: 5.5"
Handle: Stabilized KOA & Curley Mahogany
Misc: Tapered tang, Mosaic Pin

Have to thank Mark "Burl Source" for the great Mahogany, you have to see this stuff in person.
I would love to hear your comments... Thanks for looking
Ryan

That's nice. That's VERY nice.

I like the combination of the 2 woods.

Kind regards,

Jos

I like this one Ryan, The steel and the exposed tang is well done. Be sure to look me up at the show. It's one of my favorite shows.

I like the flow and the materials. Good combo Ryan. I am looking forward to the OKCA show too.

Eric

WOW Ryan that turned out very nice, really like the shape and the wood compliments it really well and the tapered tang is a nice touch. Think this has to be my favorite of your work so far and make sure you still have it for me to handle at the OKCA show.

I really like how the joinery mimics the plunge. Your choice to leave the tang exposed is a really nice detail.
Nice looking knife!

Nice job buddy! I like the exposed tang as well. Great work on this one. Can I play with it in the car on the way up HWY 5???:D

Wow thanks everyone for the nice words everyone... Jos & Eric I really appreciate that.

Eric, Bruce and Ray I will be sure to find your table at OKCA, I will be at table J16 over in the Rowdy Newbie section.

Mike thanks for the great steel, and yes you can definitely have a closer look at it at the Show. Sounds like you will have to ignore the sticky fingerprints from Jonny :D

Thank you Stuart, I didn't know if anyone would notice I used the contour of the plunge for the bolster curve. the contouring of the handle makes it a little difficult to see.

Very nice, Ryan, I especially like the finished look of the tang. Tapered tangs are a must for me. Look forward to seeing what else you come up with.

Very cool knife Ryan.
I really like what you are doing with your handles.

I just checked the OKCA map.
You are going to be within block throwing distance.

Thanks Win, I am tapering almost everything these days.

Thanks Mark... Throw away, I get to keep everything I catch! what table(s) are you at?

My comment is that when attending the OKCA....the LAST thing that I was looking for was ANOTHER drop point hunter, especially one without a guard(the last show I was at I did pick up an upswept hunter from Raymond Richard).

Fighters, larger camp knives and the like are what the more "seasoned" collectors are looking for at the show in my experience of 14 years attending.

This is a very nice looking knife, but you asked for feedback, and I wanted to offer some that might be useful.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I think it sucks, you should send it to me for proper disposal:D

I agree with Mike, of all your knives that I've seen I like this one best. The exposed tang is a really nice touch that sets it apart from the crowd imho.

Thanks Todd and Jason! Look forward to seeing you both at OKCA

STeven, I appreciate the input based on your experience. Especially as it relates to OKCA trends. We can leave this design for the Bland collectors, I have some other knives in the works: Camp / Hunter, Bowie, and Fighter for the more as you say "Seasoned" Individuals. I look forward to meeting you as well!

I don't have a clue what would sell good in Eugene,
but maybe a boot dagger? I like daggers but I'm not the normal knife collector.

My tables are along the back wall pretty close to you.

Looks great Ryan. I'll bet it's super comfy in your hand by the looks of those front bolsters. Good luck at the show.
