So, a couple days ago i posted a thread here in general with the question-will kydex scratch a DLC coating.
A couple of you wanted to see the project and pictures so here they are! (I posted this in general since the other question was a general question also) This is my first time working with kydex(got it free at work). I also didn't have grommets so I used some screws with bolts. I had to do it in the oven since my heatgun is at work. Hope you enjoy! It holds it really well.
both are neck sheaths btw...

Don't quite see the point, but looks very nice. =] Clean. I would round the sharp edges, but it came out pretty well.

Haha, it's so when I'm fishing this summer out of a kayak i don't have to worry about it and it's close at hand:)
 
Please use the sheaths and such forum for sheath discussion and the General forum for the discussion of knives.

It really is not that hard.

Hahaha! nice.
retention is... bad lol! In the fact that it's actually really hard to get it out... I'm gonna put a washer or something in between the two pieces.

im thinking about making something similar for my 0200. execpt not on a neck lanyard, i wanna put mine on the shoulder strap of my pack and i would hate for it to fall out and me to lose it.

yeah dude... that was my idea cause I'm gonna use it alot when i'm kayaking/fishing. I know that on this one I made it actually digs into the plastic sheath. It's def not gonna fall out. you could always make the shoulder strap upright I guess...

the whole reason i was thinking about mounting it on the shoulder strap was for ease of access, and i think upright on the shoulder strap would be harder that pulling it outta the pocket and opening it. lol

i was thinking about it some more and i wanna try and see if there is a way to make some kinda retention device that holds it in that you press on with your thumb or something and it releases the blade. im not really sure how this would work yet but the option im thinking of now is make a really tight kydex sheath and then find someway to have a thumb button attached to a wedge that when pressed opens the sheath a little and loosens the retention of the sheath allowing for easy extraction.

Yeaahhh haha

oh sick man! you could always make one sorta like a framlock on a knife... or use some clips(like on a paracord bracelet).

what do you mean like a framelock? i know what a frame lock is but how would you use it to hold a knife in a sheath?
