Finishing 0-1 help (different methods)

Well, I defenantly like using the 0-1 but I need to find a good finishing process. When I etch the blade, the bottom is much darker than the top portion.

Do I need to buff back the tone from the hardened steel and build up the top color?

I am looking for a nice mix between a protective coating / matt finish with a professional look also.

How does 01 cold blue and what is a good brand to use?(Can I buy this at wally world?)

After etching, use some Flitz (or similar abrasive) to clean up the black oxides on the hardened portion.
