I just got a Roselli Grandfather's Knife from Ragnar. The handle is just beautiful Curly Arctic Birch. The handle seems not to have been finished with anything. I know there are advantages to leaving it as is but...

Would it be a good idea to finish this with something like Tung oil? I am now seriously contemplating getting other Roselli knives and I wonder.

Please comment. Glad to be aboard.

I have two Roselli (Carpenter and Hunter UHC). I used a little Old English Scratch/Touch up liquid to darken the wood a bit (also brought out the grain); then gave it a good rubbing with hard paste wax. I don't see anything wrong with using Tung Oil. The handles are made slightly rougher than we're use to in the US; supposed to be less slippery in wet/cold,etc. I really like the Carpenter best for general use, but did buy a pouch sheath for it. I'd really like to add a Leuku, but am waiting to get enough $$ :-) Ragnar's service can't be beat. He's great.
