I have a few cans of stain Mahogany and Cherry and a quart if Boiled Linseed oil will this work on maple or am I going to have to get some other supplies ? Thanks in advance Rich

I would use the linseed oil, that should seal the wood just fine without hidoing the grain. The stain won't hide the grain totally but you wouldn't be able to see the different shades of the maple grain.

If you use a dye stain as opposed to a pigment stain you will have the best results. Apply it to the wood, let it dry and sand it back, the curls will trap more stain in certain parts and highlight the figure. Then put an oil finish over that and you'll have a wonderful looking club.

A dark dye stain (Trans-tint is great) sanded back with a lighter stain overtop can be really striking. (Pun intended!)

Do a search for maple guitar finishing will give you lots of specific info. Good luck!
