Hey all!

I've been worknig on a kit knife with G-10 scales. I have looked all around, but I can't seem to find out how one "finishes" a G-10 Scale.

After sanding to 2000 grit, does anybody do anything else to the scale? Seal it? Wax it? Buff it?

Mine doesn't look finished, you know? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks all!

I haven't done it yet but been told by one of the best to rub in some wd40. That will bring out the pattern in the g10 and make it look really nice.

You can only sand it to 400-600 or more and to leave it like that, or you can put it on the buffer to obtain a more glossy look (but more slipping... )

You can also use a sandblast to obtain a matt finish and less slipping handle... Or use Scotchbrite belt (or pad) to put a "satin finish"...

I like using a fine grit scotchbrite flap wheel. You can get them at most hardware stores. They have a 1/4 shank and so will fit an air powered die grinder or drill very handily. Then spray with WD40 and wipe off.

If you're looking for that heavy textured G10, contact Halpern Titanium, they have all types in stock and it's already pretextured, Just grind to shape, contour the edges and WD40.

Hey all- I've been waiting for more replies, but I wanted to say thank you for the feedback. I guess everyone agrees what WD-40 is the way to go. Anyone else reading the thread, please post you opinion, as I like to know options.

Thanks again!
Bill
