How does everyone finish their titanium? I tried stone washing some scales but they were still kinda shiny. I dont have a bead blast set up but I can send them out to be bead blasted if need be. Anyway what's everyone's favorite method? Thanks and merry Christmas from the Schmidt house

I like sand blasted and anodized finishes. I have a cheap $99 blast cabinet and it does a good job. I find it very difficult to polish or satin finish. A scotchbrite wheel helps alot.

I have this one.

It works but I wouldn't recommend it. Its the loudest compressor I have ever heard. Bigger is better but a smaller one will just take longer. I run it at about 100psi for blasting.

My problem is the big ones are just so expensive. Didn't know you could even use a smaller one like that

I tumble all my titanium scales but make my own media as I find the ceramic triangles etc don't do a lot to titanium.

I use smashed flint. My sister gets me flint nodules from her local beach and I smash it up using an old arbor press and a big hammer. The arbor press goes into a large plastic tub - to catch the pieces and the nodules go under the arbor which is then hit with the hammer. The rack was damaged so the press has no arm - it is basically a guided smashing machine and is quiet good fun.

The relatively large and sharp pieces of flint soon put a nice stonewashed finish on titanium. You have to change the media fairly regular as the edges wear, but it is free :)

I may have to look into that. I noticed the semi polished titanium didnt do anything really when stonewashed

i like to orange peel the surface cause it holds ano so nicely i use a wire wheel on my buffer
Went out and bought a coarse wire wheel for my buffer and tried the orange peel finish. Came out pretty nice.
