Well Ive posted some pics here and there after I bought this empty then partially filled and now done. Im sure its a long way from perfect or right but Its the way I like it. thanks to a lot of you guys who gave me info on the case dates as well as some that gave me some pics of ones like it to follow and thawk even gave me the yellow fish knife cause the one I had was pretty beat up. thanks guys what do ya's think? And not all of the knives are mint in fact if you look close some are used pretty good but they worked for my display and Im also not rich. -Joel

Nice effort, Joel! A worthy display; you must feel proud to have it on your wall, and thanks for sharing it with us!
A step back in time!!
Where do I send the dollar??;) ;)

I like it a lot. I know where there is an Imperial Diamond Edge case like this one. Probably from the same time period. It makes me want to go back and see if they will sell it to me. I gave my fisherman brother a yellow jackmaster fish knife too. He uses it to dig hooks out of bluegill throats.

This knife case has been probablly the funnest part so far about collecting knives. it gave me something to do and something to plan for. I tried to get one knife a week off of ebay for under $10 bucks that was my goal. I came in under budget but it sure was fun. It seems like the knives you see in my cabinent are every whrere you look under imperial knives on ebay but wait till your looking for one imperticular one or color it felt like I was waiting years but in reality it was days till one poped up but then you still had to win it. I would recommend to anyone to pick up an old display case and try to fill it was a blast I even had my wife finding knives for me. she likes it more than I do she just dosent like the fact that its on top of the TV in our living room.HAHA - Joel

Way to go! And to think you were going to get rid of it. Now you have a great collector piece! And the next one will be...

Excellent job Joel! Looks great and sounds like it was a heck of a fun project.

Good looking display there, and good job of bringing it in on budget. The imperials seem to be edging up in cost almost weekly.

I have noticed that too. As a matter of fact someone brought it up a month or so ago when we were talking about the 2 toned imperials. It also seems like a lot more interesting examples of these knives are coming out of the wood work. like neat handles with pictures or designs etc.

Gradall,
You must be reading my mind, here is one I picked up today. It was more than I wanted to pay for it, but after losing a couple to other bidders and the condition of it, I went ahead and bit the bullet.

Still stdk a good knife in mint condition for under $20 bucks I think you did good. Maybe you could post a better close up of that knife once you get it. And thats what I was talking about, I search " imperial knife" at least 2 times a week for the last year or so, mainly cause I could pick them up cheap and you never know what you'll find imperial made so much different stuff I see a new knife everytime I search it just seems like in the last couple of months there was a ton more that I'd never even seen before. -Joel

I suppose I have a bit of the Baer brother's spirit in me, because I really like the "trinket" knives. One of the big attractions to the Imperial, Schrade, Ulster etc. knives is the near endless variety they made. I recently picked up this pair of knives. I hadn't even seen them before except in these company flyers.

I was bidding on one like that wild cat skinner a while back but didint win. Im a huge trinket knife guy, I love to pick up knives cheap or in a group just to give to my nephews or guys I work with. It kind of goes along with that story you told a while back michale about the guy who handed out the knives and the trinkets etc, remember? anyway my thought is the same way, kinda. when I work with a guy who pulls out his wal-mart special You better believe Im taking one for the team and bringing him a knife the next day. Thats the main reason I bought a bunch of the sw7 switch it lockbacks for a whole $8.99 from smkw cause thats usually what I hand out to replace the china stuff. Sure it cost me a little but when they come across an old timer in there dads garage they bring it to me ( sometimes).
