Im getting an extremely small (but visible if you look hard) wire edge where the wood meets metal on these spacers Im making. The surfaces are dead flat by using a 9" disc and checking on my granite plate. Is it just from not going through the grits patiently enough or going the wrong direction against the seam where the wood meets the metal or ? Nobody sees this until i point it out so maybe im nit pickin.
I tried getting a close up with my camera and just couldn't get a good pic :(

I may just have to live with it on this particular piece as it is a small spacer sandwich of metal/wood/metal and they are only .117 /.25/.117" each. I took it back to a new 320 jflex and it seems to have helped a bunch, its only present in a couple areas and greatly reduced.
Ill have to keep that tip in mind though for my handles. thank you sir!

This is about as good a pic as i can get and barely shows what im talking about on the left side toward the top and right side where the wood/metal meet. this is after the 320 jflex and greatly improved.

Doing this right most often means using new or near new belts and using fine grit sizes like 600 and 800. I have also found that "stiff" non flexible belts are the ones to use. When doing thre hand sanding, your backing piece behind the sand paper should also be hard. Frank
