Hi all,
had a blast in Finland sleeping outside in the snow for 7 days, practicing cold weather survival.
Lots of making water from snow, cold weather drills, fire building, shelter building (snow graves, quinzhee, tree pit shelter etc), ice fishing etcetera.
Sleeping in a goosedown the north face superlight bag with a bivy bag around it.
I had a lowe alpine saracen backpack (100-120 Liters) and it had room enough for all my gear + 7 days worth of food.
Snowshoes were a must as you can imagine and having a shovel on you helps.
And the esee junglas came in pretty handy too
Conditions were mild (march 2011) ranging from 0C to -24C and it was an awesome trip.
here's my video review for those interested
