Finn Wolf opinions.

I've been eyeballing it too. Right now when I go practice firestarting I take my Cold Steel Recon 1 as my primary blade and it works GREAT! Believe it or not, Tantos are sorta interesting when it comes to making a bird's nest. But with that said, I wanted a folder with a Flat, Saber, or a Scandi grind. Cold Steel made exactly that with the Finn Wolf. I think I remember Lynn Thompson (I think that's their CEO's name,) describing this as his take on one of his favorite blades, the Puuko, I believe it was called. Personally, I think that if somebody were to call this the best Pocket Survival Knife and market it as such.. anybody familiar with Cold Steel products would jump on it since the scandi is paired with the TRIAD lock.

I have had one for a month now. I wish I could say that I have run it through its paces in that time, but I haven't. Summertime just isn't my time to be heading into the woods.

I do like, and it is by far the sharpest and most polished edge I have ever gotten out of the box. VERY sharp and even edge, never ceases to impress. Without having done any real cutting with it though I can't comment if it will keep that razor edge after any use though.

It feels nice in the hand. The triad lock thus far is very stiff, may break in may not, not sure yet. The backspring is very heavy. The knife slams shut with some serious force. Its also not an easy one hand opener due to the strong spring. I actually took the thumb stud off mine finding it not very useful for one hand opening anyway. The intention for this knife is to be a backup to my Mora no 1 in the woods so two handed opening is not a big deal.

Wish I could say more about it, but 96deg heat, high humidity, and miserable ticks and mosquitos outside makes it tough to get out and play. Its all I can do to make it through work this time of year. Weekends are spent in the water or in the AC till October.

After reading this I tested for everything you described. I agree with the triad lock comment. I had no trouble with the one handed opening though. I know what you mean about heat and humidity. !06 today. Stay cool.

Sorry figured the "we just got it in" spoke for itself. I just wanted some feedback to pass on to the shoppers. I just work the counter. Not trying to sell anything on BF.

How about trying it yourself and passing that first hand experience on to shoppers? If you are giving customers second hand opinions, it seems like one might as well go to one of the online mega "river" site.

Seems like a brick and mortar really needs to go that extra mile to stand out from the big boys.

Wish I could but they frown on me putting a knife through it's paces while working. ;)
