Mors Kochanski uses very similar diagrams for his instructionals.

I'm not so sure about the undercuts though, should they not be much larger? At least making the hinge halfway? It seems to me that short undercuts are what leads to barberchairs.

Interesting that the axe head looked more like an American version than the typical Finnish axe head. Once again shows how labor intensive logging was before the event of the chainsaw, and it is still hard work. John

I'm not sure I would put as much effort into dropping a pecker pole as that guy did. Looks about 2 minutes work with any decent falling axe rather than that big hatchet he was using.
