Finnish knife help

I have a knife my father left me...he acquired while in the merchant marines during WW2....it's a Finnish knife with a green handle....the name on it appears to be SUOMI with what appears to be a lion rampant underneath.
The blade thick at the top, moreso than usual knives and has grooves at the top.
The sheath is hard leather with 2 brass bolsters at the bottom it also says SUOMI at the top with a small tassle on the side. The sheath is also stamped Made In Finland.
I am having trouble finding out its worth

Whats more important to you.....finding out what your fathers knife is or finding out what its worth so you can put it on Ebay?

Suomi is the native word for Finland, not a makers name.
The Lion rampant holding a sword is from the Finnish Coat of Arms, and is found on a lot of knives made in Finland.
There are many makers that have made or currently make knives in Finland over the years. Need pictures if you want help on this.

I have a picture but can't seem to upload it , but will keep trying. As to the 1st question, I do want to find out more about my Dad as he was very reticent to discuss his past,

As a registered user, you can post pictures using a picture hosting site. I use Imgur, but there are others. Once you have uploaded a picture to the hosting site, copy the web address of the picture. Note: picture web addresses must end in .jpg or .gif

Then go to your post and click the image tool on the toolbar next to the smiley tool. Click the link icon in the popup. (Looks like a chain.) Paste the picture address into the window. Then click the INSERT button.

Use a free image host site such as Imgur.
Open the free account, upload good clear high resolution pics, no flash, showing the entire knife and any markings. Once pics are uploaded to Imgur, copy the BBCode links and paste them here in the response box.. File types allowed are .jpg, .gif and .png.
