When I first looked at pics of the Sus Scrofas, it was on the BCS site, and as I looked, Robert Frost's "Fire and Ice" was brought to mind quite strongly...so I decided to buy them...and here they are. :)

The Black crinkle blade suggests char to me...char left over by the flaming handle, thus "Fire." The black and blue G-10 with the satin finish totally reminded me of how a large block of ice can appear to turn blue and black inside, while remaining clear looking on the outside. Like some mystical knife smith reached into an iceberg and pulled a blade out, thus "Ice."

I like the Yin/Yang thing here.

Fire and Ice

Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.

Robert Frost

This was my favorite picture of Ice and Fire.

I really like everything about the Sus Scrofa. I love the way it looks, I love the way it feels in my hand, and I love its slicing power. These suckers tear through packaging and cardboard, and Bubba says they're great in the kitchen. The sandwich and apple I've sliced were certainly not an issue.

Bubba thought the handles were kind of blurry in the other two pics, and thought this one had better focus.

I absolutely love my--FEAR IT!--Sus Scrofa. It is an underrated blade. Marvelous as a kitchen knife, nice symmetry!

Very interesting perception, LadyThud. I like your mind. And if there were going to be a poetry reference in BF, Frost is probably the perfect one for it. (Unlike my Adrienne Rich reference the other day :D)

Now the only problem is that you can't USE those two. Put them in a nice little display case, and buy yourself another. That is the TRUE hog way, no? ;)

Great blades and pics.

Both are great but I really like the one with orange scales. Very cool.

personally, all those colorful G10 handles remind me of Dr. Seuss.....:D

Why Thank You, Gatman. :) Buying more for users is a good idea. Apparently great minds think alike:

I figured as long as I was making Bubba take some more pics anyways...Hi there!

I love Dr. Seuss! The kids prefer Sandra Boynton though. It would be awesome if Dr. Seuss would write a Busse story book for the Hogs...like if he were a secret hog or something.

excerpt from Dr Seuss' Big Bad Busse Book:
......Yes I like them....I like them all Gatman! I like to use them when I chop...I like to take them when I shop....I like to have them harvest the crop...or shave my Pop.....They're a Big Bad One Stop Shop!....."

Sus Scrofas for the win! I love em!

Just exactly "Who" is going to shave Papa?

Do I have any say in the matter?

I would prefer to get shaved with the Police Recruit Variant, Jerry sharpened that one and I know it is sharp.

(wanders off muttering something about buying Busse knives 7 at a time. where do these Kids get this from, Shakes head)

Great pics Ladythud.

The SS was the first Busse my wife actually liked. I got one in black & pumpkin. She really liked the color combo. Now all I have to do is convince her she needs her own Infi to carry. That would be great. She already likes guns. Infi is the next frontier for her. I guess I should have grabbed the LE just so it would match my FBMLE, but oh well.

Hehe...she doesn't just have one sister...she has three. :) I believe the oldest is 15 or 16 now....almost legal for her to buy her own knives. They were real sweeties 5 or 6 years ago when I saw them last.

bigfatty - start her off slow. Get her a "gift"... Buy her a Scotch Dispenser and wrap it up in something and give it to her when she least expects it, and tell her that you are just thankful for her. Not only will she love the mere thought, she will always be close to INFI bc you gave her it and its smaller, and she can actually carry it :)

PapaThud, it was never difficult to get you to shave. :) I remember that we could always tell when a big shipment of Busses had come in because your forearms were super patchy, a quilt look almost. You would have those big squares of neatly shaven skin where you had tested how sharp the Busses were after they had arrived. As I recall, you saved your most approving smiles for the knives that simply made your arm hair jump off in fear at the sight of the impending meeting with a Busse's edge :D:eek::D

She would see through that one in a heart beat. Won't work for a second. I might get away with that with a pink AR, or a Pink Glock, etc. If I gave her any Busse she would likely get mad, then she would go bury it in a shallow grave somewhere just to keep me from "using it occasionally". She's no dummy.

Besides, If I get a Scotch dispenser, it will inevitably get lost in my pocket on the way to her's

I seem to remember people at the RenFair saying something about:

"God Shave the Queen"?

So, I do have something to say about it, Good.

Just a Little off of the Top?

I remember using that Hairy Man you Married for more than a few Busse Shaving tests.

I also remember you shaving with that very same Police Recruit Back in the "Olden Times"

Legs, I think it was.

No Waxing, Poetic of course.
