When I first looked at pics of the Sus Scrofas, it was on the BCS site, and as I looked, Robert Frost's "Fire and Ice" was brought to mind quite strongly...so I decided to buy them...and here they are.
The Black crinkle blade suggests char to me...char left over by the flaming handle, thus "Fire." The black and blue G-10 with the satin finish totally reminded me of how a large block of ice can appear to turn blue and black inside, while remaining clear looking on the outside. Like some mystical knife smith reached into an iceberg and pulled a blade out, thus "Ice."
I like the Yin/Yang thing here.
Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
Some say in ice.
From what I've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire.
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
To say that for destruction ice
Is also great
And would suffice.
Robert Frost
This was my favorite picture of Ice and Fire.
I really like everything about the Sus Scrofa. I love the way it looks, I love the way it feels in my hand, and I love its slicing power. These suckers tear through packaging and cardboard, and Bubba says they're great in the kitchen. The sandwich and apple I've sliced were certainly not an issue.
Bubba thought the handles were kind of blurry in the other two pics, and thought this one had better focus.
