SO i got in a new mora yesterday and the very first thing i noticed was how slippery the red paint on the handles were and how very, very sharp that edge was, i really don't feel like losing a finger or two and ive read that you can fire harden the handles to get a better grip, can anyone share some tips or advice before i take a blowtorch to the handles? Thanks!

Fire harden? I think all that will do is burn off the paint. If you want to improve the grip, you could grind off the paint, then take a dremel or similar to it and cut some grooves into the handle.

Wood can be "fire hardened" by slightly charring it, but that won't help your situation.
You can file slots into the handle, or jig it with a Dremel.
