Fire Pistons

Does anyone know where one can find instructions for making a fire piston and if it requires special tools?

I have seen the finished ones for sale, However I got to do something with the little off time I will see while back on Active duty.

Will I have some plans for one. email me for them, but unless you have a lathe, or at the very least a pillar drill I wouldn't try, as the tolerances are pretty tight.

ok, heres my problem with that statement.

sure, may be hard - but people did it for a long time without a lathe. so its certainly possible.

anyone made one with handtools? seems like its only really useful as a survival skill if it can be made from bare minimum tooling in the woods to me. otherwise its just a cool piece of science.
